I am really hurting with withdrawls and i feel like i need them to function or have any type of pleasant day. i especially need them when i am hurt emotionally. i guess i use them to kill both physical and emotional pain. i use them for fun and for a coping mechanism. i know i have a problem but it is soooo hard to get them out of my head.

If you really want to kick a vicodin addiction , you need to go into an inpatient program . Vicodin is a narcotic (opiate) ... which is the same category of drug as heroin , demerol , opium and morphine . Get help ... good luck .

Congratulations for recognizing you need to stop the drug addiction. Vicodin is a powerful "Demon " that you need help to overcome. My brother was a minister and died a while back, in an auto accident, while taking a call for the Hospital Ministerial Staff. He loved teaching and working with Youth. The following is a note I found among his papers. You may substitute the word Vicodin in place of Heroin. It begins: "This note was found by a police officer in a telephone booth. The writer is dead.... King Heroin is my shepherd. I shall not want. He maketh me lie down in the gutters. He leadeth me beside troubled waters. He destroyeth my soul. He leadeth me in the paths of wickedness for the efforts sake. Yea, I shall walk through the valley of poverty And I will fear all evil. For thou Heroin art with me. Thy needle and pills try to comfort me. Thou strippest the table of groceries in the presence of my family. Thou robbest my head of reason. My cup of sorrow runneth over. Surely Heroin addiction shall stalk me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the damned forever. " And on the other side was handwritten the following post-script: "Truly this is my Psalm. I am a young person, twenty years of age. For the past year and a half I have been wandering down the nightmare of the junkie. I want to quit taking dope and I try. But I can't. Jail didn't cure me, nor did hospitalization help me for long. The doctor told my family it would have been better, and indeed kinder, if the person who got me hooked on dope had taken a gun and blown my brains out. And I wish to God she had. " Two blocks from the phone booth the police found a twenty year-old girl that had blown her brains out. You have taken the most important step of your life by admitting that you have an addiction. Now, hurry to your doctor and ask for his help so you can be rid of that horrible addiction. There is help for you, with and by The Grace and Mercy of God, you can overcome the demon of Vicodin and be free. Go for it and may God bless and keep you forever in His loving care.

The inpatient answer is 100% right. In order to get rid of your addiction you need to be somewhere that you can't access the drug. Rehab is pretty much the only way where you can completely cut yourself off from the drug. Yeah you're going to go through withdrawals and it will be a bitch and a half, but when it is all said and done it will be well worth it. Think about your choices..you can either go through withdrawals for a bit and then be 100% better and actually live your life or you can keep taking the drug to combat your withdrawals and either end up screwing up your entire life or even worse..dead. I'm leaving a link to two sources relating to seeking help for vicodin addiction that could help. If I were you, I'd at least fill out their form or give them a call to see how they can help. Good luck..I hope you get the help you need.
