I am 18 years old and i have bulimia. i do want help, however i don't feel i am strong enough to do this alone. i live in south florida. my family and i cannot afford the prices of the treatment centers. i do have medical insurance, florida medicade. all the places i have called said they do not accept medical insurance. i feel like my eating disorder mixed with probably a little depression is getting worse. i want help NOW. if anyone can give me some websites to look up or phone numbers to call i would be soooo grateful. thanks.

I also have an eating disorder, and am now in recovery. I hope that you are able to find the treatment you need, and if you need someone to talk to about this, my email is laurelle117@yahoo.com. I've found the Something Fishy website to be very helpful (something-fishy.org/ ) and in my experience, if you find a therapist, dietician and/ or doctor in your area who specializes in eating disorders, they're often able to give you information about support groups that are taking place. I've found that support groups and multiple family groups can be very helpful, and even if there aren't any in your area, you could help to start one. Also, because I know that recovery is so hard to do alone, I would suggest that you talk to your family and trusted friends about your eating disorder and ask for support. Tell them how they can help you, by listening, being supportive, not commenting on meals, etc, and you can try to explain to them what it is you're going through, and give them some resources such as books or websites that will help them to support you better. Another great option is to search your library for books about eating disorder recovery. One that many people like is Life without Ed, and most libraries also have recovery workbooks and informational books. I hope that this advice helped, and good luck
