Do alcoholic treatment centers actually work?

Question: Do alcoholic treatment centers actually work?

Do you know anyone or know if these actually make someone stop drinking. Is there a good chance of them quitting drinking from going here and it is a good idea to begin with? I read some about alcohol withdrawal too and it doesn't look good.

Treatment centers such as recoveryconnection.org/ do work to a certain degree. They are trained professionals who know how to get people away from their addiction. Their patients usually leave clean. The problems is a year later people may forget about their progress and with enough temptation around the person may fall back in that hole. I have faith in treatment centers but if the person does not have enough self control problems may emerge thats why its also your job to keep alcohol away or limit what the person drinks.

The only person that can make someone stop drinking forever is that very person himself. The centers are there to support you, but you have to be the one to stop drinking. You can go to every center in the world, but if you don't want to stop, it will be nothing but a waste of time and money.

The alcohol treatment centers do work if you want them to. The very first step is you yourself wanting to quit drinking. Second step following their program and sticking with it not just for a while but for life. You cannot be "cured " but you can learn how to live with being an alcoholic and living your life without drinking. You'll be surprised how much better life is without drinking.

Nothing "makes " you stop drinking--that, my friend, is up to you. And I say that as a person who has been sober for over 11 years. YOU are in the driver's seat and no matter what anyone tells you, you are NOT powerless. If you think that a structured environment might help you, and are seriously considering rehab, please, carefully check out the place you are thinking about going. The majority of treatment centers these days--although this is changing--are nothing more than conduits straight into AA. AA has never been proven effective, but at least it's free. Here are a couple of websites you might find interesting: smartrecovery.org/ orange-papers.org/ defeataddictions.org/ AA-Unmasked.html peele.net/
