Call the medical society for the county/ city/ area...and ask for the names of several doctors who specialize in drug addiction....good luck!

I don't know if you have been getting your pain meds from a doctor or illeagly. If you have been getting them from a doctor, then just go to him. If you have been getting them from elsewhere then try going to a pain management doctor. I live in Texas so I don't know of any doctors up there. I don't know how you feel about going to rehab but if the pain management doctor wont help you and suggests rehab and you don't want to go, then what I would is start cutting your doseage by a quarter for a week. Then cut your doseage by another 1/ 4 which would make it half of what you have been taking. Do that for 2 weeks. Then cut your doseage another 1/ 4 which now you will be taking a 1/ 4 of what you have been taking originally. Stay on that doseage for 2 weeks and then stop. This should keep you from having any or minimum withdrawl symptoms. That is what the doctor would do anyway, but give a pain doctor a try first. If they are willing to help without wanting to send you to rehab then follow his instructions. If you tell him point blank you are not going to rehab then I know the doctor will for sure tell you how to taper off even if he will not perscribe the pain meds to do it. Even a regular MD will give you the directions on how to taper off reguardless whether he perscribes the meds or not. The instructions I have givin you is being extra careful. It will be up to you after you are weened off of them not to take them anymore. It will be tough. That is where rehab comes in. If you can not do it on your own, then rehab helps with the mentel part of it. I hopes this helps you and I will pray for you. Good Luck! If you ever need someone to talk to just e mail me.
