When you can not wait till the next time you have to take them. Or when your 4 hours is up and you think you feel a pain and you dont but you take a pill any way................ |

Actually neither. They act normal. That's the problem. They become so tolerant of the medication. The signs and symptoms are more hidden... They have to have the medication They take it not for pain, but because they need it They go to multiple doctors or multiple ER "s to get another script. They "Lose " their scripts. They ask others for extra pills. Those are more the signs.... |

Number 1 sign. You can't live without them. act? depends on the meds: as everyone knows Tylenol 3's come from the same family as heroin. So if you take enough, you will nod, feel numb, dopey and feel no pain. Inmates in prison melt them down and shoot them as a subsitute. |

I have known some people with pain pill problems. their eyes always look kind of glazed over, like they just smoked tons of weed, had many beers, and had no sleep for two days (all at the same time). they tend to speak slower. less responsive. often they sort of just stare at things (like at their shoes, or whatever, seeming not to be paying much attention to other things). im not an expert but those are my experiences with people like that. |

They will be taking pain medication consistently for months if they are addicted, they will have mood swings, and they could be hyper or zonked out depending on their mood or whether they didnt take their pill, their face could be red too |

It depends on what pill they are addicted to. Some pain pills like Hydrocodone and Oxycontin speed you up. If they are addicted it is just like any other addiction-they usually start stealing things(because they usually lose their jobs eventually) to pay for their habit. They start to not care so much about their appearance-like my sister -in-law goes around without washing her hair for days. All they think about it how to get pills-nothing else matters. |

Someone with a pain pill addiction will be "zonked out " while they're on the pills, because that type of pill is classified as a "depressant "--it puts a damper on a person's brain and nervous system, so they won't be thinking quickly, or clearly. While they're not on the pills, however, they'll probably be more anxious and irritable than usual. Overall, you'll notice the person withdrawing away from their friends and family and usual activities. They'll be secretive in general about their activities. |
