I found a prescription for a family member for this medication. The use was for opiate addiction but I know for a fact this person isnt on opiates- he gets drug tested for work. Are there any other reasons a dr would prescribe this to someone? He claims he gets treated for anxiety/ depression but I have never seen any other prescriptions. Can this drug be addictive? Elpi its my business because he is living in MY house for free with MY small children- I have every right to know whats going on

Why don't you type it into your computer. There are numerous articles that you can read about this drug. Or, you can mind your own business and believe your family member's story. He's in the struggle of his life; be supportive or stay out of it.

It can also be prescribed for pain.

It is prescribed off label for depression and pain, but usually only for people with a history of opiate use. Suboxone IS a very powerful long lasting opiate, with a half life of around 36 hours. It is 50 times stronger than morphine, e.g. 1 mg of sub is equal to 50 mg. morphine.
