The specific opiate that I'm wondering about is vicodin (hydrocodone).

I have a problem with opiate addiction, have for 3 years and its to stronger opiates than vicodin. Marijuana will help you forget about it, smoke some and try to forget about withdrawing. Also drink a bunch of water, and if you can stand lemon, put it in your water, the acid will help remove the toxins from your system. Also exercise helps speed up the process.

No. If you have a drug problem, don't use one street drug to ease the use of another. Why not go to a detox or see a substance abuse counselor? Sounds like you don't want to get clean from drugs.

No. Opiate addiction is usually treated with Methadone or Subaxone.

Your just trading one addiction for another. Maybe you can talk to your doctor, and see what they suggest.

Hmmmm.... It probably would take your mind off of your addiction, but if you were trying to stop being addicted to something like that, why would you want to get addicted to something else that's no good for you?

No, the mechanism and place of action (at receptor level) is different

No. You'd just smoke to much pot and blame it on "easing the withdrawals " after they're long gone. Get rid of the pills, get willpower, go cold turkey. Those aren't heavy enough to give you the sickness or anything. Deal with headaches and irritability for a fews days/ weeks.

No marijuana unless extremely good stuff will not help someone get off of vicodin. You would be better off to go with large quantities of caffeine. Marijuana will not help because vicodin is a narcotic with stimulant- you will need to replace the rush of the stimulant. Marijuana may not even get the person high during this time. Slow reduction is best way to come off vicodin. First start by halving the amount taken, then slowly make the time in between longer, then lower amount again until off the pain medication.

Everyones diffrent. if you like the feeling that weed gives you and it helps the pain while you are withdrawing then i say go for it !!! your body wont become in need of the weed as does vicodin. i went through this myself, the first 4 days or so were the worst iv ever felt in my life. i did it cold turkey . thank god its over. good luck.

Hello, If you are in a legal state talk to your doctor about it, no good being in jail and a addict to vicodin. But to answer the question, yes it will help ease the pain and everything else. The body also does not get addicted to marijuana, mentally is another story. Good luck wish you well and the first step to any addiction is admitting you have one.
