Opiate Abuse: Methadone Facts

Question: Is it his ocd or his opiate abuse?

My brother has history of drug addiction and my family is almost 100 percent he is snorting heroin now. My brother has always had a bit of an ocd with picking his face but recently it looks terrible. Like he has poured boiling water on his face. I know opiates make you itchy so could his opiate abuse be making his ocd worse? I'm only asking because he just passed his drug test and he is telling us he is clean...but his face says otherwise. When he was in rehab his face was clear and even a month after rehab. What do you think?

It must be very hard to have this brother with so many problems, a serious addiction, face that belies his words, money spent to help him by your parents, and you left to worry about him, rather than focus on your personal growth and development. Clearly something is wrong. Drug abusers are liars at the outset, and if he had OCD, very likely, he still does. It may manifest in another way, but it doesn't disappear. So, what I think is that you should hand this problem to your parents in a quiet way. There's no sense in confronting your brother. The truth will be revealed at some point. You are very brave and mature and a nice person to be so concerned about a wayward brother.
