I've been doing pills now since i was 17 years old .. i'm 23 now. i get so desperate i've even fractured my own wrist to get pain pills from the er. everytime i don't have anything i feel so depressed they're basically the only things in my life that make me in a good mood.. i really don't wanna be like that anymore i was to be normal like everyone else .. i know alot of people say when you get on methadone you're just switching from one drug to another but i think it could help me .. should i just tell me doctor i'm addicted to pills? or do i need to go through detox first?

There should be free methodone clinics in your area, the only bad thing about them is you have to go every day to get your dose... also there is a drug called suboxone that helps too.

Hi I'm Robby, I'm 18, and I'm a recovering addict. There are methadone clinics all over the place, all you have to do is look them up. Do NOT detox first! Save yourself the discomfort! Just get to a clinic, tell them your story, and they'll find you the right dose. Methadone can help you lead a normal life. You aren't switching from one drug to another, however eventually getting off of methadone isn't the easiest thing. You could eventually switch to Suboxone. Also, you can go to suboxone.com and find a doctor who prescribes it. Suboxone is GREAT for opiate addiction, however you have to be in full withdrawal before you can start using it. There are pros and cons for using either methadone or suboxone, research it, and/ or talk to the people at the clinic. I highly recommend inpatient detox! Try going to an NA meeting too, if you're up to it.

Look into Wild Kratom. It's an opiod (not an opiate). It suppresses withdrawals from opiates and has extremely low addiction potential and low tolerance build up. Site below has info. Methadone is worse than heroin, keep it in mind. It's a lot harder to get off methadone than heroin and methadone clinics have less than 2% success rate.

My boyfriend just started going to a methadone clinic about a month ago. It's not free though. He has insurance but his insurance won't cover it because he's never been to any other sort of rehab. It costs us $65 a week. That in comparison to the $250 a week I was spending is great. Here in Michigan, you just call up a clinic and set an appointment. You go in and fill out the paperwork and they dose you. They start you off at a lower dose than what you are used to having in your system and then the up you every other day or so. My man is content where he's at right now. Give it a try....it is a lot cheaper than paying er bills and buying pills off the street!!
