Methadone Uses: Methadone Facts

Question: Does methadone use cause traces of blood in stools as i have had three concecutive stool samples and all showe?

Blood instools , i have been on methadone for 7 years and totally have chronic constapation there is sometimes a few spots of blood on the toilet paper as i squeeze very hard as i never get a natural need to go to the toilet i had a colonascopy just over two years ago and everything was clear please help me?

Methadone use does not cause blood in the stool but it can cause constipation which can. All opiates have the potential for causing constipation and it is reccomended that you try all natural mehods first such as eating foods high in fiber (whole grains, nuts, dried fruits, oranges, apple with skin, avocado, kiwi, mango and pears,green leafy veggies, peas, beans, etc.) in addition to products like Metamucil (a powder you mix in a drink like water or juice) and lastly you can try a soft stool softener. If none of these work then consult your doctor who may prescribe you something more potent.
