Ive had a problem with opiates ranging from hydrocodone to oxymorphone. For about 3 years now. I'm now getting sick of it and I think I am ready to try and get off this shit for good.. If I was to go through a methadone management plan. How do I go about finding them for one. also does insurance usually cover them? Also will they keep it all confidential? I dont want to lose my job or anything over it..

Go see your doctor. i've known people on it, and their insurance paid for it. everything medical now is strictly confidential. anything else is illegal. your doctor will be able to refer you to a clinic that will be able to set you up with the methadone.

Methadone maintenance is considered health care so it's confidential just like any other health care. It's covered by HIPAA. If you want to try methadone for addiction you have to go to a methadone clinics. Methadone cannot be prescribed in a doctor's office for addiction, only for pain. To find a clinic in your area you can go to SAMHA's "treatment facility locator "-site at findtreatment.samhsa.gov/ TreatmentLocator/ faces/ addressSearch.jspx . Enter your zip code then click "Select Services ". On the next page you select "methadone maintenance ". All clinics within the chosen distance will come up. Some clinics have waiting lists so you may want to call and check the clinics near you. Keep in mind when you choose a clinic that for the first 30-90 days you will have to come in 6 or 7 days a week so distance can be an issue. Most methadone clinics do not take insurance. You normally have to pay for the treatment up front once a week. If your insurance covers methadone maintenence you can submit the claims yourself and have them reimburse you. Most clinics will help you with this. The fee for methadone treatment is usually anywhere from $50/ week to $100/ week depending on the area and the clinic. You may also want to look into Suboxone treatment. Suboxone is a medication similar to methadone. It's less restricted so it can be prescribed in a regular doctor's office as long as the doctor has the proper license. It's more expensive than methadone treatment but insurance is more likely to cover it. Some people do better on methadone than suboxone and for others it's the other way around. You just have to try it and see what works for you. I recommend doing your research before you start treatment so you can make an informed decision. If you want to find a doctor that can prescribe Suboxone (aka buprenorphine) you can go to this link: buprenorphine.samhsa.gov/ bwns_locator/
