Question: Quickest, & cheapest hydrocodone detox?

I'm not a junkie or anything like that. I had back surgery 21/ 2 months ago and have been taking painkillers every since. Two times I have tried to go off of them and both times were unsuccessful. I'm not psychologically addicted to them, however I think physiologically I may. Whenever I went off the painkillers I would wake up with every joint in my body aching terribly, and I would feel like I had a cold. Seeing as how I have been out of work do to the surgery I cannot afford a high dollar detox, however letting my body naturally detox from this crap is pretty unbearable.

It is unbearable. But you just have to do it. Drink a lot of water to flush your system and get lots of rest. It will be about 3- 5 days of hell, but then you'll be off of it.

Here are a couple of ideas for you. Take what you need and leave the rest. 1. You don't say how many you are taking or how many you have left but if you can be honest with yourself or can get someone to hold them for you then you could try to step down on your own. Maybe try reducing by 20% a week so your body has a chance to adjust rather than go cold turkey. 2. Call your local NA groups and see if they have any suggestions regarding detox centers that are affordable for you or are free. I live in Houston and am active in AA and I know that we have several detox houses that we regularly take people to who don't have insurance so I would imagine each area is the same. Salvation Army might also be a good place to contact. Don't let your pride get in the way here. 3. Check out this website: soberrecovery.com. It is awesome. Go to the message board/ forum and you will find support from people like you who have been there and done that who can give you more tips and talk you through any tough times. 4. Don't give up. It CAN be done. It's not easy but it IS worth it! Good luck!
