Probly also other factors like depression, or just a bad enviroment. some times people just want to escape thier life. atleast for me that was true with my alcoholism. but theres other reasons. sometimes kids do drugs with their parents though

I agree with against, even with adult guidance the young generation will still experiment with drugs because of curiosity and peer pressure.

Isn't school over? But anyways the answer is no because I come from a strict family and I chose to do drugs( ecstasy, smoking, drinking) because of my friends. Drug addiction is caused by your friends. Not your family. PS im not addicted to any of the drugs.

You could argue that drugs are an age-old problem, not new to the younger generation of unsupervised kids. In the 18th and 19th centuries it was very common for people to have snuff boxes, which was opium (unprocessed heroin) from China. Alexander the Great (about 330BC) and his mates when they got to India got high on marijuhuana and then brought some back. The ancient Romans have many examples of drug use. Even during the 40's 50's and 60's people were using plenty of drugs, housewives in particular were commonly addicted to valium as prescribed by doctors. Drug use was rampant in the 60's and they were a generation that had almost 100% stay at home moms. Drug addiction has been going on since time began, just do some homework and look at the history. Good luck.

No, it is generally caused by pear pressure, depression, or on occasionally they try a wiff just to see what it's like and than get hooked.

First of all, we have ALWAYS had drug abuse and addiction here in America. In fact, many controlled substances today were readily available without a prescription years ago. It wasn't uncommon for people to be "hooked " on barbiturates and opiates through mail order catalogs. And this was common during the late 1800's through the 1920's and 1930's. During WW2, GI's got high on "joy juice " which was turpenhydrate and codeine, available over the counter. In the 1960's some young people began experimenting with drugs as a socially acceptable norm. Today, kids do drugs because they are stupid and are used to making poor life choices. That's right...even little kids who enter Kindergarden know its wrong to run right out into the street when they want to crossit....thats a poor life choice that will end badly for the kid. And so he learns how to cross a street correctly and safely. The same thing applies to all situations in our lives. Poor choices make for bad endings. As you know in school these days, they teach about drugs and alcohol and so the lesson is as pervasive as learning how to cross the street safely, right?

Not true - think of peer pressure. or depression leading to drug addition. both of these have little to do with absense of adult guidance- sometimes a preaching parent results in a rebelling teen, you know?

Well, yeah, but kids are going to do drugs whether their parents are doing an excellent job or not...Sorry that was going against your position.

Absence of adult guidance is also one of the reasons.
